The Portuguese police (PSP) has done a campaign called "Cruelty to animals is crime" to alert about the cruelty against animals and situations of abandonment.
So to clarify questions related to complaints of mistreatment situations, the police also created an email (defesanimal@psp.pt) that can be used by any citizen.
Police also indicates the 21POLICIA phone number (217 654 242), for which it can do the same complaints or ask for clarification.
The campaign "Cruelty to animals is crime" was launched in partnership with the Council of Lisbon during holidays time, where cases of pet abandonment usually fire. The provider of animals Lisbon, Ines Real, attended the launch of the campaign, which took place in the House of Animal Lisbon in Monsanto stressed, quoted by Lusa, that "each year are abandoned about 100 000 animals nationwide three thousand of these in Lisbon."
The PSP also announced on the blog of the Lisbon Metropolitan Command "internal training, so that in all police divisions, the police are entitled to provide the necessary support to those who need it and to trigger the procedures required by applicable law", according to Público.
